Re: Advanced Improvisation (started by Jazzyoungster)
Thank you very much, all of you, for your very kind replies. These answers are really useful, and have inspired me into a whole new level. Even though some of the things I already was aware of.

@ gre107 / Gerry
I have been studying intervals lately, and I’ve also practiced your example, playing tierces of a scale.
I think my next step is to start transcribing licks, which you also mentioned.

@ rlemos / Ron
I would really like to take a look at your approach. Pentatonic scales for every chord, hmm… i like it!

Once again thank you all, for your efforts and replies.
Best regards

New: Advanced Improvisation
Hey there,

i've been playing the sax for about 3years, and i've just went into "advanced" improvisation. By that i mean playing after chords, and not only just one scale. I'm a little confused. What notes should i play if i want it to sound jazzy? What do you guys suggest? I know the 1st, 3rd, 5th, blue note and dom 7th are good. But it will get borring after a while, wont it? I think i need some help to progress.

I hope im on the right forum

Best Regards

Søren
